just a few comments...

on hard-boiled eggs.
my favorite new snack. i have two hard-boiled eggs, two pieces of toast, and a spoonful of peanut butter every day when i come home from work. does anyone have any tricks on how to peel those blasted things? it takes me 10 minutes just to get the shells off, and my egg ends up looking more scrambled than hard-boiled.

on politics.
anyone happen to see the press conference with Blago today? what a joke.

on living in D.C.
i'm getting used to it. i feel like i've been here a lot longer than a week. we took a walk to the white house a couple nights ago. and then bush drove by our house last night (well, it was either him or the king of england or someone who has an equal amount of security cars and cops leading and following him) and scared the tish out of me with all of the noisy sirens. yet another great aspect of life in the city. sirens waking me up at night. not pleasant.

on being a nanny
vomit smell is 14x worse than poop smell. seriously kid, couldn't you have waited to get sick til the weekend?? just kidding, she actually sleeps alot since she's sick which means i watch a lot of food network, travel channel, and hgtv. ALSO...i'm about 1 hour away from watching "nanny diaries," i thought it was appropriate.

on making new years resolutions.
i'm making some, just a little late. they're mostly goals that i wish to accomplish while i am here in d.c. (1) lose 12 pounds. ha! funny. at least i have a free gym pass while i'm bere. thank you George Washington University. (2) brush up on my spanish and italian speaking skills. (3) be more crafty. i stole a pattern from my sister and i'm working on a cross-stich project right now. i really want to learn how to knit. again. (4) read good books! no more school means no more school books and lots more good books. i need suggestions people, some good attention grabbers please. what are your favorite good reads?

on russ reading over my shoulder.
he always tries to do it while i'm writing even though he KNOWS i hate it more than anything. Does anyone else get super annoyed when people read what you are writing while you are writing it? just wait til i'm done!

On hard boiled eggs. Put the pan in the sink when they are done and let cold cold water run over them until the water is completely cold. Thats how my mom did it, it seemed to work. Good luck, Being a nanny is hard work. I did it for three families, Its really hard taking care of other people's kids, but so much easier with your own. You can do whatever you want!

I agree with the last nanny comment...I did it too, and I think (don't know!) that it will be easier with my own...we'll see!

Books....Love The Secret Life of Bees, The Giver (a kids' book, but oh so good)....All the Traveling Pants books (ok, so maybe I like kids books...). Ok I swear I read, but now I can't think of any other good ones! I'll check my shelf...

Also on the eggs, if your eggs are fresh they won't peel easily. There's something about the pH of the shells. If you wait until they are five days old or so, then boil them, they are easier.
